He walked into his house
Happy to be home
He called out “I’m here”
She came stumbling to him
A smile on her face.
He picked her up in a fierce embrace
His little girl
An angel she seemed
Happy, smiling
Though she couldn’t see

Her eyes had been closed off
No one knows why
But he likes to think
She is seeing pictures inside
Wondrous colors
Places he’ll never see
‘Cause they are in her head
Not at all earthly

As he hugged her tight
He kissed her head
And smiling at her
Asked how her day had been
Excitedly she told him
Of all she had done
Though she could not see it
She had so much fun

Her fingers her eyes
Her ears, her nose
Her tongue all made pictures
She could hold
And helped her see the world
As few have or ever will

And sits back and wonders
After she has gone to bed
Can she see me smiling
When she hears my voice?
What picture forms in her mind
When I hold her tight?
He smiles
One thing he knows
God has blessed him
With his wonderful baby girl
